Emily Koenig joined the St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund (CSF) in 2016 as Director of Administration and has been serving as the Executive Director since May 2018.  Emily has more than 15 years of experience in both non-profit and state and local government sectors working on issues impacting child well-being.  In her current role, Emily provides strategic oversight of all operations of CSF including ensuring the effective distribution of the nearly $42M in resources received through local sales taxes for children’s behavioral health supports and services. 

Prior to joining CSF, Emily served as the Children’s Interagency Services Manager at the Missouri Department of Mental Health where she was responsible for the development and enhancement of policies and practices to improve services for children and youth. In addition, Emily also worked at Missouri Office of Administration where she was responsible for a wide range strategic projects and initiatives including managing statewide contracts, assisting in the development of the annual budget and operational goals of the department, coordinating research and analysis, assisting with federal reporting on behalf of the state’s executive departments and leading the state’s 2010 Census marketing and outreach campaign.

Emily also spent more than five years working in public policy and advocacy for Citizens for Missouri’s Children and the Partnership for Children. In this role, Emily served as the primary liaison to the Missouri general assembly, governor’s office, and state agencies on a wide range of issues impacting child well-being including children’s health coverage, early care and education, and child welfare. 

Emily is also active in the St. Louis community. She serves on the boards of the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank and Downtown Children’s Center.  Emily lives in St. Louis City with her husband and two children.

Philanthropy Missouri has provided me and my team with invaluable opportunities to connect with and learn from our peer funders throughout the region. These opportunities have allowed us to enhance our grantmaking processes and experience. In addition, we’ve improved our collaboration with other funders for more strategic investing in the region.
