Funder Discussion: Incorporating Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Grantmaking
A Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Funders Affinity Group Meeting
Friday, October 13, 2017
For more than three years, the Gateway Center for Giving (GCG) has been intentionally engaged in funder programming and peer learning around issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.
MEASURING CHANGE: Through a recent Member survey, the Gateway Center for Giving recently assessed whether and how our Members have implemented any DEI-related changes into their grantmaking strategies. The results may surprise you.
On October 13, please join us for a gathering of funders interested in learning about the state of the field. During this session, GCG staff will present our latest Membership survey data, which reveal a range of experiences in implementing DEI practices in grantmaking. Attendees will discuss their current grantmaking needs in working to incorporate the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion into their organizational cultures and work. In addition, representatives from the newly formed St. Louis Chapter of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP) will share insights gained from attending the 2017 CHANGE Philanthropy Unity Summit, a national conference focused on aligning equity and philanthropy.
Participants can expect to leave this program with:
- An understanding of their peer funders' commitment to, and leadership around, incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into their organization's work;
- A deeper recognition of the benefits, challenges, and complexities of incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into grantmaking; and
- Information about national trends to align equity and philanthropy.
WHEN: Friday, October 13, 2017; 9:00am-10:30am
OPEN TO: GCG Grantmaking Members (Free) & Non-Member Funders ($50)
